Fishtail Pigtails

By Makenna Ashley

Today I'm showing you a simple trick to get the perfect fishtail pigtails. This hairstyle is easy to achieve and great for beginners. I would wear this style for my "casual cute" days, when I don't want to get dressed up, yet I still want to look cute and put together.

I decided to wear my custom, 24" length Cashmere hair extensions for the added length, but it would also work with the 16", 18", or 20" extensions as well.

Step 1: Put your hair into two low pigtails. Preferably, use a regular hair tie rather than a clear elastic. (The regular hair tie is easier to take out, I only wrap mine around twice.)

Step 2: Start your fishtail braid.

Step 3: Repeat on the other side.

Step 4: Braid as far down as possible, and secure the ends with clear elastics.

Step 5: Pull apart your braids for added texture.

Step 6: Take out the hair ties from the top.

Tip: It is not necessary to tie off the pigtails with hair ties in the beginning; however, it does make it easier to braid when the hair is more secure. Using a hair tie will also help hold the hair together so pieces don't start falling out along the way.

Optional: Add a bandana for a bit of edge! When securing the bandana, make sure it is going over your ears, closer to your face. This will allow the Fishtail Pigtails to rest normally rather than stick out to the sides.
