We are officially in the last quarter of 2020! As we welcome in October and the change of seasons, we can't help but get excited about the holiday festivities that are about to unfold. First off on the list is Halloween! Let's put aside the obvious question (will it even happen this year?) in favor of some things you can do regardless of your state's lockdown status. We're also including some fun Halloween hairstyle ideas that will make a great last-minute costume addition... should a party present itself. Let's get to it!
1. Visit the Pumpkin Patch
The first must-have stop in October... drum roll please... is the pumpkin patch! Grab your family, kids, or friends and head out for an excursion to the local farm. Many spots offer yummy treats, pony rides, sunflower picking, and other activities, so make sure to find one that best fits your needs! (need some hairstyles to keep the hair out of your face? Give one of these a try, or keep reading for halloween hairstyle ideas!).
2. Pumpkin Carving
Now, we can't talk about Halloween without the tried and true favorite, pumpkin carving! Nothing like getting your hands dirty, scraping out the insides, and then carving your favorite face or picture into your pumpkin for lots of twinkly nights to come!
We always find it easiest to first draw out the picture onto the pumpkin with a pencil or pen, then grab the carving tools and follow the lines. This way you'll see if there are any gaps or overlaps that may cause a break in the picture!
Bonus Tip: One of the best parts of carving is saving those pumpkin seeds and roasting them in the oven. There's nothing quite like salty toasted pumpkin seeds!
3. Painting Pumpkins
One of our family's newest traditions is painting pumpkins! It's a great activity if you're not quite up for getting your hands dirty with pumpkin goop, or if you're just feeling extra creative.
Another fun perk of going this route is that the pumpkins last much longer than carving, so you can do this early in the season. They'll still last you well past Halloween! This is not only a fun activity for the kids but also adults, it can be somewhat therapeutic to get creative and work with your hands!
Add in some competition and have a pumpkin carving or painting contest - best pumpkin wins a special treat!
4. Fall Baking
Next stop on the pumpkin train: baking! Pumpkin makes all sorts of baked goods that much yummier. Pancakes, muffins, scones, protein balls, you name it! This is the perfect time of year to start slowing down, and making lasting memories in the kitchen and around the table. And keep reading for some cute halloween hairstyle ideas that will keep your hair out of your face, and the pumpkin bread.
5. Halloween Movies
Now that it's getting dark earlier, it's the perfect lighting for some Halloween-themed flicks. Create a charcuterie board, bring out those baked goods, make your own pizza or snuggle up with some simple popcorn. Whatever it is, try making it a moment by lighting some candles and grabbing a few cozy blankets. So many fun movies, scary and not-so-scary, are on Netflix around this time of year, so be sure to keep an eye out for your favorites.
6. Halloween Hairstyle Ideas
It's finally time for our favorite topic: hair! This year, skip the wigs and use your Cashmere Hair extensions as inspiration for your Halloween look. our extensions are perfect when trying to execute a gorgeous hairstyle that needs some added thickness or length! Plus, they aren't a Halloween-only item, so if you need to purchase a new set, you'll be using these year-round.
For all of the Halloween hairstyle ideas below, I use my 20" Classic Clip-In Extensions in Pale Ash Blonde. However, feel free to mix and match lengths, colors, and extension types depending on what your needs are. Now, let's go over some of the styles!
These could be worn for so many different costume ideas! Pigtails are whimsical and so fun - honestly, I'm not sure why I don't wear them on a more regular basis. They're one of my favorite this halloween hairstyle ideas. And don't forget to let us know what you dress up as over on Instagram!
Costumes to go with: Pippi Longstocking, Harley Quinn, Britney Spears, Poppy from Trolls.
Pro Tip: Use washable hair paint to match your costume and bring it up a notch!
2. Low Elegant Bun
This halloween hairstyle idea would be gorgeous paired with some crystal or pearl hair accessories! It's simple, elegant, and easy to achieve, which makes it great for a last-minute costume.
Costumes to go with: Flapper Girl, Greek Goddess, Fairy, Ballerina.
3. Cute Half-Up Halloween Hairstyle
For my ladies who opt for a cozy night in with friends instead of dressing up this year, this casual-cute halloween hairstyle idea is just the thing.
Starting off with a loose curl (I used a 1 1/4 inch curling iron) you'll use a scarf scrunchie to create either a lower ponytail for a sweet, feminine look, or on top with a mini bun for a spunkier look!
