How to Get Disney Princess Hair
When it comes to hair, no fictional characters are more renowned than the Disney princesses. The length, the colors, the volume! That's why we decided it's high time to create some classic princess looks using our Cashmere Hair Clip-In Extensions.
So if you've ever wondered how to get Disney princess hair, keep reading. We're breaking down some of the most popular princesses' styles for you to recreate at home - all with the help of Cashmere Hair, of course. Let's get started!
1. Rapunzel
Let's start with the hair icon that rules them all: Rapunzel. With ultra-long locks that are somehow strong enough for grown adults to use as a climbing rope, Rapunzel is an iconic look - and one that's surprisingly easy to achieve! To get Rapunzel's classic down-to-there braid, here's what you'll need:
- 24" Cashmere Hair Classic Clip-In Extensions
- hair sectioning clips
- a package of clear mini hair ties
Start by applying your clip-in extensions (we recommend going with the 24" set - this is Rapunzel, after all). Then create a deep side part, then clip in three of the 3" wefts as shown in Haley's video above. If you're experienced with clip-in hair extensions, you could even play around with adding additional wefts - just make sure the clips are able to be covered by your natural hair! If you're wondering how to get disney princess hair, more is probably better.
Next, take a small section of hair at the front of your head. Secure with a hair elastic, but not too tightly (this is important for the "bubble" effect later). Then, take two small sections of hair from either side of that section, securing with another elastic. Repeat this step the entire way down your hair.
Once you've reached the end of your hair, go back and begin lightly pulling hair out of each elastic to create the textured bubble look. I definitely recommend checking the video out for this technique, as it can take a few tries to get right.
You can finish your look with a flowy skirt, gold accessories, and even some flowers tucked throughout the braid.
2. The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid brings the term "mermaid hair" to an entirely new level, and we are here for it. Her signature locks are some of the most voluminous of all the princesses - so of course she's next on the list when learning how to get Disney princess hair! For this look, you'll need:
- Cashmere Hair Clip-In Extensions (any length 16" and up will work!)
- hair dryer
- 1" curling iron
- round brush
- hair spray
- hair sectioning clips
Our founder Rachel's signature hairstyle is a perfect match for the Little Mermaid - crazy volume, a gentle wave, and tons of hair! This video is a great starter for how to get disney princess hair.
Begin by sectioning out your bangs (if you don't have any, skip to the next paragraph!). Spray them damp, then use a round brush to pull them forward and down while drying to achieve a gentle wave. Then, when it's dry, use the blow dryer to add volume at the roots, and gently curl the hair away from your face. Use the curling iron to curl the ends again away from your face.
Next, section your hair across the back at ear level, clipping up the top. Then using the 1" curling iron, curl your hair that's not sectioned. Be sure to keep the curling iron vertical, and leave a bit out at the ends. Curl away from your face.
At this point, you can also curl your extensions - refer to the video to see how Rachel does it. Then, clip in your first track. Repeat these two steps with the remaining tracks.
Be sure to watch the entire video for tips and tricks on track placement and finessing your curling wand for the perfect Little Mermaid hair of your dreams! You can finish off the look with a few trendy pearl clips, or even a homemade seashell hair accessory.
3. Sleeping Beauty
Rolling out of bed with Sleeping Beauty's tousled curls might be a fairytale dream ( nobody wakes up like that, princesses included!), but you can still achieve them with a little time and effort. Materials for this look will include:
- Cashmere Hair Clip-In Extensions (18"- 24" lengths will work best)
- 1.25" curling iron
- hairspray
First, clip in your full set of extensions (if you need a refresher on how to do this, check out our post here). In the video above, Makenna is using her 24" Pale Ash Blonde set, but you can create this style with almost any of our lengths!
Next, plug in and heat up your curling iron. You should be using a larger barrel - we like 1.25" as it creates a gorgeous, tousled curl. Once the iron is hot, grab a small section of hair at the front of your face and wrap it around the barrel of the curling iron away from your face (don't clamp it!). Take a peek at the video to see this technique in action. After a few seconds, let go of the curl, holding it for a few seconds in your palm to release the heat and set it.
Repeat this technique for the rest of your hair, working from front to back. Once you get away from the very front pieces, you can start alternating which directions the curls go - this is what will give you that signature Disney princess hair look.
Once all your hair is curled, finish off with a texturizing hairspray, and you're good to go! Complete your princess look with a pink (or blue) off-the-shoulder dress, and a crown if you're feeling especially royal.
4. Cinderella
And finally, we have Cinderella. Her classic princess bun creates an iconic silhouette, and in this tutorial, we'll update it by giving some teased volume at the roots. To get this Disney princess's hair, you'll need:
- (x3) 3" wefts from a set of Cashmere Hair Clip-In Extensions (18"- 22" lengths will work best)
- foam hair donut OR old sock
If you're wondering how to get disney princess hair, the first step is always clipping in your Cashmere Hair extensions. Brush your hair back, then section out the top part of your hair (reference the video for this - it's a bit different from what we normally do). Clip in on 3" weft, then repeat with the remaining two wefts.
Next, brush out the top section. Then grab it and tease the hair close to the roots with your brush, smoothing out the top portion to give it a neater look. Flip your head over, and gather all your hair in a high ponytail. The higher, the better for this one!
If you have a hair donut, then you can skip this step. Cut the toe off your old sock, and roll it into a donut shape (a similar technique is used in our DIY Clip-In Donut Bun). Voila - you now have a hair donut!
Place your donut around the base of the ponytail, brushing out so your hair is smooth. If your hair is especially slippery, you can add a spritz of hairspray so it will stay in place. Then loosely twist hair around the donut, smoothing down any extra strands as you go. Secure your bun with safety pins and smooth into place - your Cinderella bun is complete!
Finish up the look with a black pearly headband and a set of pearl earrings, because you're going to be the most fabulous girl the ball (or the Halloween party).
