Clip-in hair extensions should help to simplify your life, not make you feel frustrated in the middle of styling. Whether you are going to work, going out on a date night or when you have an important occasion, a small problem like slipping clips or visible tracks can ruin the entire appearance. The good news? The majority of these common clip-in issues can be resolved quickly and easily. Here is a troubleshooting guide so that you can utilize to make your extensions appear seamless, secure and salon worthy each time.

Problems with Slipping Clip-Ins

In the event that your extensions do not want to stay in place, the problem is most often about grip.

Quick Fix:
Start with textured hair. Clip-ins perform better on hair that has some sort of grit and texture. You can use a texturizing spray or powder at the roots of your clip-in section and gently tease the root at which you are going to attach each weft and then clip in. Clip in each clip with a complete click to ensure a secure hold.

Visible Tracks or Wefts

One of the most common concerns is seeing the tracks particularly when one has finer hair.

Quick Fix:
Placement is everything. Wefts should not be placed too close to your part or hair line. Rather, make sure when you are making your parted sections that you leave out enough hair on the top to completely cover the extensions. A more natural blend may be achieved by layering smaller wefts (rather than one large piece). When you are clipped in, take the time to curl or wave your hair, this will help seamlessly blend.

Extensions Don’t Blend With Your Hair

Even well-applied clip-ins may appear to be out of place when they do not mix well.

Quick Fix:

It is important to style your natural hair with your extensions while they are clipped in. Apply heat appliances to curl or straighten the two together so that they blend together seamlessly as opposed to style seperately. When you have a blunt cut to your hair and the extensions are layered (or the other way around), then a simple trim by a professional will can make all the difference.

Clips Feel Uncomfortable or Heavy

Sometimes the notion of discomfort implies that something is not placed in the right position.

Quick Fix:

Check the number of wefts that you are using. It is not always better to use a lot -at least with fine hair. Instead, use light but well designed clip-ins like our Seamless Clip-ins and have them evenly distributed all over your head so that there is no tension on one part of your head.

Extensions Look Flat or Lifeless

Clip-ins should add volume, not fall flat.

Quick Fix:
Flip your hair upside down and shake the roots after clipping in. Quick curl or bend will be used to create immediate body and movement making your extensions look more complete and natural.

Clip-in extensions can be totally hassle-free with proper preparation, application and styling. Some little alterations are sometimes all that is required to make a frustrating day into a perfect hair day.
