5 Ways to Style Your Cashmere Hair Extensions to Help Them Blend With Your Natural Hair

By Tatiana Montano

Blending hair extensions into your natural hair can be tough sometimes, but here are some great ways that you can style your extensions and add some texture to them, so you can ensure a seamless blend between your natural hair and your clip in hair extensions. We've also included an easy hack to help revive your new hair extensions and allow them to hold a style easier and longer.

How Do You Get Hair Extensions To Hold Curl Better?

Here's an awesome way to get hair extensions to hold curl better. When you want to start styling your 100% Remy Human Hair extensions from Cashmere Hair right out of the package, and you want to ensure the extensions hold their curl even longer, this is a great technique to use.

Cashmere Hair natural hair extensions have been straightened and therefore can initially be difficult to curl. By resetting these extensions with a mist of water can bring the texture back into them, this makes the curl last much longer. Here's how to do it:

First, you are going to want to grab a spray bottle that can give you an even mist, and you are going to want to fill it up with some lukewarm water. Then, you’ll want to take your Cashmere hair extensions and just gently mist them with your spray bottle. Doing this, will bring out some of the natural texture in your human hair extensions. It will also get rid of that straightening stiff effect and really give you more of a natural texture to work with.

Once you've misted them with your water, you’ll then want to use your hands to really saturate the hair evenly. You don't need them to be soaking wet, just add enough water to make them damp. Once your extensions are evenly dampened, you can let them air dry to take on their natural wave or blow dry them if you would like to wear them right away. Once they’ve completely dried you can add in our Cashmere Hair Shine Spray to create some extra shine to the extensions and prep for styling. You’ll notice that the hair extensions will be much easier to manage and style, and they will also hold their style a lot longer.

5 Ways to Add Texture To Blend Your Hair Extensions

1. How To Use A Curling Wand to Create Clamp Curl

One of the most popular ways to curl hair these days is by using a clamp curling iron. Once you nail down a solid technique, you can create some really beautiful curls. You'll first want to grab a curling iron with a clamp in a width of your choosing. Keep in mind that the smaller the width of the barrel, the tighter the curl will be. On average, any iron between 1 1/4"- 1 3/4" is a great pace to be.

setting temperature of curling iron to under 400 degrees

You'll want to turn on your curling iron and make sure that you don't set the temperature to anything over 400 degrees. You can always add a couple of sprits of our Cashmere Hair Extensions Shine Spray to add a layer of heat protection and shine to your extensions.

Now there are lots of different ways you can curl with a clamp wand, in this tutorial we are going to show you the easiest technique. You'll simply section off a piece of hair and clasp the iron at the end of the hair leaving about an inch of the end out. Then begin twisting the iron all the way up towards the extension clips. Hold the hair there for about 20 seconds and gently open the clamp to slide the hair out. You can then catch the curl in your hand to allow it to cool and help hold its style even better. Curl the rest of your extensions, and once they are completely cooled you can brush them out with our Cashmere Hair boar bristled hair brush to reveal a beautiful curl that will last days!

2. How To Create A Wrap Curl

This style of curling hair was a very popular technique just a few years ago. Similar to the clamp curling technique, you can alter the look of the curl just by changing a few minuscule elements. In this technique, we use a 2" curling iron with a clamp, however we are not going to use the clamp in this technique. We actually wrap the hair around the wand and add in a slight twist that naturally occurs when you wrap the hair around.

Hold the hair there for about 20 seconds, careful not to burn yourself, and gently release the hair. You can then catch the curl in your hand to allow it to cool and hold its style. Curl the rest of your extensions, and once the are completely cooled you can brush them out to reveal a really pretty natural curled wave to the hair!

3. How To Create Beachy Waves On Hair Extensions

If you enjoy heatless style, this could be a great one for you! If you are one to sleep in some braids and wake up with these gorgeous beachy waves, you can replicate this style to your extensions using a waver. You'll want to turn on your waver and make sure that if there is an adjustable heat setting, that you don't set the temperature to anything over 400 degrees.

Once your waver has heated up, you'll then grab a small section of hair and clamp the waver down on the hair. Hold the clamp down for about 5-7 seconds and continue to work your way down the strand of hair making sure to line up the clamp to the end of the section you just did so that the waves flow evenly to give you that braided effect. Repeat to the rest of your extensions, and once you clip them in, you have instant long beachy waves!

4. How To Create Bouncy Tight Curls On Hair Extensions

For our curly girls, this one's for YOU! Don't let anyone tell you you cant wear extensions because you absolutely can. With our 100% Remy Human Hair extensions you can curl them with a tiny curly iron and mimic your natural curls to instantly add volume and length.

You'll want to get a 1/4" - 1/2" curling iron, depending on how tight your curls naturally are will determine the size curling iron you'll need. Now, because the barrel is a lot smaller than the average loose curl, you'll need to grab smaller sections of hair. The more hair you wrap around the looser the curl will turn out.

There are a few different ways you can replicate your natural curls. Wrapping the hair tightly around the barrel will give you an ever so slightly looser curl/wave, especially if you slightly twist the hair as you wrap it. In the video linked above, we took the clamp approach and twisted the iron all the way up to the root. Be sure to wrap the hair evenly throughout the length of the barrel to ensure the heat is being evenly distributed to tall of the hair. Once you've held the hair there for 15-20 seconds, you can release to reveal a cute bouncy curl!

curling ends of hair with mini curling iron

Curling the ends of the hair can be a bit more difficult with a small iron like this one, so just be sure that if you are wrapping the hair around the barrel, you are wearing gloves, or if you are clamping the hair, be sure to try to get as close to the ends as possible. Once the curl is done, you can then go back in to the ends and twist the iron down to re-curl. This will give a more natural look to the curl rather than most curling techniques where you leave the ends straight.

separating curls and wrapping them around fingers

After you've repeated this step throughout the rest of the hair and let the curls cool, you can begin separating the curls and fluffing them. Wrap the separated curl around your finger to help smooth and re-curl. Pulling them apart can sometimes mess up the curl pattern, but when you twist the hair, you can re-manipulate the flow of the curl to be more even. Careful when pulling the curls apart too much because just like when you brush curly hair it gets super poofy, the same goes for these. You can also alway spray your extensions after with our Extension Shine spray to help smooth and add back some shine.

5. How To Create Mermaid Waves On Clip In Hair Extensions

Everyone wants to have mermaid hair right?? This hairstyle can easily be achieved similarly to the wave technique with a 3 barrel crimping waver. This technique can add a little bit more volume in comparison to the beachy waves technique. The 3 barrel crimper is a bit wider in width overall, however the barrels that create the style are smaller, giving the effect of a tighter wave.

You'll want to turn on your waver and make sure that if there is an adjustable heat setting that you don't set the temperature to anything over 400 degrees. Once your waver has heated up, you'll then grab a small section of hair and clamp the waver down onto the hair. Hold the clamp down for about 5-7 seconds and continue to work your way down the strand of hair making sure to line up the clamp to the end of the section you just did so that the waves flow evenly. You can even go back in and re-clamp some sections that may not have crimped well to help them flow easily. Repeat to the rest of your extensions, and once you clip them in, you have instant mermaid hair.
