IF I HAVE CURLY HAIR CAN I STILL WEAR CLIP IN HAIR EXTENSIONS?

HOW LONG DOES MY HAIR HAVE TO BE TO WEAR HAIR EXTENSIONS?
 

We recommend for your hair to be at least 6-7 inches, around shoulder length, in order for clip-in hair extensions to blend seamlessly. If your hair is any shorter, you may experience some trouble with hiding the wefts in your hair. 

 

WILL HAIR EXTENSIONS BLEND IF I HAVE SHORT HAIR?
 

If your hair is at least 6-7 inches long, which is around shoulder length, clip-in hair extensions will be easy to blend. This is the recommended length that your hair needs to be, so it is long enough in order for the clips to attach to your hair securely and to ensure that the clips do not show through your short hair. There are just a few times that we do recommend removing them, such as every night before bed, when showering, bathing, or swimming if you are getting your hair wet. We do not recommend wearing your extensions while in extremely high wind or doing physical activity.  

 

CAN I CURL AND STRAIGHTEN HAIR EXTENSIONS?
 

Yes! Cashmere Hair extensions are made with 100% remy human hair and can be curled, straightened, blow-dried, and styled, just like your own natural hair.

In order to preserve and extend the lifespan of your hair extensions, we suggest always minimizing heat damage. We recommend using a low heat setting of 120C/250F because anything higher runs the risk of damaging the hair. You can also use heatless hairstyling techniques to achieve similar results and prolong the life of your clip in extensions.

 

WHAT PRODUCTS CAN I USE ON HAIR EXTENSIONS?
 

It is important to choose the right products to keep your extensions looking soft, tangle-free, and luxurious.

When selecting products for your hair extensions, we recommend using gentle hair products whenever possible. Choosing alcohol-free and sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners, because using these ingredients can dry the hair out, leading to frizziness, matting, or tangling. We recommend using high-quality products specifically formulated for dry and damaged hair, as they will help keep the strands healthy and nourished. We have created simple and effective haircare that is specially designed for use on hair extensions that you can SHOP HERE.

We do not recommend using a heat protectant spray on hair extensions as this can cause buildup and tangling. We do, however, recommend a nourishing shine spray, hair oils, and serums, which will prolong the lifespan of your Cashmere Hair. 

 

HOW TO WASH AND DRY HAIR EXTENSIONS?

 

Hair extensions do not need to be washed as often as your own hair. We suggest only washing your clip ins every 15-20 wears or when there is too much product build-up and they become unmanageable to style. Please keep in mind that NEVER washing your hair extensions will damage them.

We highly recommend using sulfate-free and alcohol-free hair products, as these ingredients can dry the hair out, leading to frizzy, tangly hair.

Wash your hair extensions in a similar way you would your own hair, but in a sink filled with water. Apply shampoo first, rinse off, then apply a generous amount of conditioner from top to bottom, working the product through the hair. Rinse off the conditioner, then rinse the extensions again in cold water to lock in moisture. Next, apply a deep conditioning hair mask throughout the extensions, to restore smoothness and shine. Leave the hair mask in for at least 4-6 hours or overnight for best results. Brush each weft with the Cashmere Hair Brush from bottom to top to detangle the hair. To dry, lay each weft flat to air-dry on top of a towel on a flat surface.

HOW TO BRUSH HAIR EXTENSIONS?
 

Just like your natural hair, hair extensions can and may tangle, as all long hair does. We recommend brushing your extensions before and after use, as well as throughout the day with the Cashmere Hair Brush (the BEST detangling brush!)

When brushing your extensions, we recommend brushing the hair from the bottom and working your way up to the top to gently loosen and smooth any tangles in the hair. 

 

CAN I DYE/COLOR MY HAIR EXTENSIONS?
 

Yes! Since Cashmere Hair extensions are made of 100% remy human hair, they can be dyed a darker color or toned by a professional hair colorist, who has had previous experience in working with hair extensions. Of course, if you are ever unsure, we do recommend that you have a professional help you out.

We strongly do not recommend getting hair extensions colored a lighter shade, as it will require them to be bleached. Bleaching is a harmful chemical process that can alter the quality of your set, and even damage it. Results may differ since we custom color all of our hair, and it is not virgin hair.

If you are in between shades, we recommend going for the lighter color and taking your set to a professional hair colorist to have them dye your set a darker shade in order to achieve an overall match. Similarly, if you have highlights, we recommend going for a shade that matches the lightest highlight in your hair and having a professional hair colorist add lowlights to your set.

If you do decide to get your clip-in extensions dyed, we recommend that you do a test on one weft first prior to dyeing or toning the full set, to ensure that you are satisfied with the results.

 

CAN I SLEEP WITH HAIR EXTENSIONS?
 

We do not recommend sleeping while wearing clip in hair extensions, as they can get tangled during sleep, and can cause damage to the extensions as well as your natural hair or scalp. Since they only take a few minutes to clip in, and seconds to remove, please do this daily to maintain the integrity of the hair.

 

CAN I SWIM WITH HAIR EXTENSIONS?
 

No, we do not recommend swimming with your extensions clipped in or getting them wet (except when washing them). Chlorine from swimming pools, salt from ocean water, and dirt in all bodies of water can be damaging to your hair extensions. Also, swimming with your extensions clipped in may lead to the extensions tangling with your natural hair, which can be damaging. 

If you would like to wear your extensions in the water, make sure to secure your hair up in a bun and completely avoid getting them wet.

 

CAN I PLAY SPORTS WITH HAIR EXTENSIONS?

We recommend avoiding doing any physical activity that could lead to excessive sweat when you are wearing hair extensions. Remember, your sweat is salty, and acidic and can dry out your hair extensions leading to additional matting and tangling. To increase the lifespan of your extensions, minimize their exposure to sweat. Instead, be sure to unclip them before heading to the gym or use an old set of extensions when doing physical activity.
